A decade or so ago four people sat round a kitchen table and discussed the fact that, while publishers and bookshops were getting bigger, the number of interesting and original books being published seemed to be getting smaller. And they began to think about all the wonderful books that had slipped out of print, or disappeared from publishers’ backlists and bookshop shelves, which would still be enjoyed today if only people were reminded about them. Out of these discussions came Slightly Foxed which in 2014 celebrates its tenth anniversary – an elegantly produced and much-loved quarterly book magazine, unaffected by the winds of publishing fashion and more like a well-read friend than a literary periodical, personal, unpretentious and entertaining.
