Silver Sonata, Memories of a Musical Life: New York, the Met, and Leonard Bernstein

Written in collaboration with Jacquelyne Kaplan Silver, Silver Sonata is a magical musical memoir of a life fully lived, recounting Ms. Silver’s journey from her childhood as a gifted piano prodigy in the tenements of St. Louis to The Juilliard School of Music and a thirty-year career as a concert pianist and accompanist in New York City. Ms. Silver coached some of the most illustrious names in opera, including Joan Sutherland and Luciano Pavarotti, taught Tony Randall the role of Harold Hill for the national tour of The Music Man, danced with Carroll O’Connor and Vincent Price, was wooed by Leopold Stokowski, played duets until dawn with Benny Goodman, and concluded her New York years as Assistant Conductor to Leonard Bernstein.
